Letter from the President

Greetings!

My name is Maranda Degenhardt and I am the current Chapter President of the Kappa Sigma Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. I am a fifth year studying Agricultural Education within the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences and I also hold an Undergraduate Position within the Office of Student Involvement on campus. I joined Alpha Omicron Pi in the spring of 2015 and immediately took on the office of Vice President of Membership Recruitment. I absolutely love helping young women find their home here at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. Enough about me, let’s talk about the wonderful people I get to call my sisters!

Welcome to our website! We are so excited that you are interested in Alpha Omicron Pi and feel free to email us with any questions or concerns you may have. The Kappa Sigma Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi is a small one, but we are mighty! With around twenty sisters, we raise thousands of dollars for the Arthritis Foundation each year. To do this, we host numerous philanthropy events including: Strike Out Arthritis! Golf Event, Pancake Feed each semester, and much more! We also have an official sisterhood biweekly, unofficial sisterhoods as much as possible (we really like to go out and get food together!), retreat experiences, socials with the other fraternities and sororities on campus, etc. As a sisterhood we really like to get out and be together. It truly is the cliché saying “You get out what you put into it”. In 2018 we will be celebrating our 25th year at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls! We are so thankful for all the support that we have received over the years from both International Headquarters and alumnae.

Alpha Omicron Pi was formed in 1897 at Barnard College, making AOII the oldest international organization on Carleton's campus. Being a member of an international women's organization means so much more than being a member of a twenty person chapter on one campus. Alpha Omicron Pi has 138 active collegiate chapters and over 151,000 collegiate members in North America, making it possible to find Sisters anywhere around the world. In its 120th year of existence, AOII has shaped thousands of intelligent, ambitious and well-rounded women.

Whether you're looking for your home away from home, a squad of ambitious women to succeed with, or a community of women to laugh at your jokes, we would love to get to know you!

Alpha Love and Mine,

Maranda Degenhardt
